It was created by John Speed and engraved by Jodocus Hondius, and originally published in Speed's "The Theatre of the Empire of Great Britaine". The detailed engraving shows some of the university colleges that already existed in 1611, such as New College, All Souls, Queens, Magdalen, Trinity and Corpus Christi. Their coats of arms also adorn the left
